NNO “OUR KIDS” TIP OF THE WEEK – Curfew
In 2007, Minneapolis Police stopped more than 1350 kids for curfew violations in Minneapolis . Curfew enforcement is now an important piece of an MPD strategy to reduce violent juvenile crime. According to Minneapolis Police Chief Tim Dolan, “In the past two years, juveniles accounted for over half of those arrested for violent crimes, now that percentage has fallen to between 25 and 30 percent.”
It makes sense. Children who are at home rather than out on the street are much less likely to become victims of crime or cause trouble.
